The Transfiguration
by Stan Arney © 2008

Imagine seeing Jesus with Elijah and Moses
For Peter, James, and John it would have been wondrous
Jesus transfigures and appears as never seen before
Still another confirmation would come of our Savior

God, Himself, would speak of His Son specifically
How He loved Him, and was pleased with Him, indubitably
God told them to listen to Him, now there could be no doubt
For there is no one in all heaven or earth with more clout

Moses and Elijah, the Prophets and Laws of the past
Jesus, the Son of God, fulfills the scriptures at last
He was the lamb to be sacrificed for all of Man's sin
Then comes His resurrection, the result is a win-win

These men could share firsthand knowledge of what Jesus had done
Including God distinguishing Him, as His beloved Son
This places Jesus above all men, past, present and future
His kingdom will know no end, last forever and ever

Peter, James, and John, still found time to find reason for doubt
What more could Jesus have done to help them figure things out
Faith is a cornerstone of what we choose to accept as fact
It guides us through our decisions and how we will react

These three men should have walked confidently by Jesus' side
When asked who Jesus was, the Son of God they should have replied
When the time came to stand up for the Son of Man, they failed
His destiny was fulfilled, and onto a cross He was nailed

How would you like to face God knowing you let His Son down
But by His Son's own blood, you will still wear a golden crown
You will still walk in heaven with the Lord God Almighty
Know that this question will be asked of both you and me.
