IT?S THE NIGHT BEFORE X-MAS
by David McNeely © 2008

It's the night before X-mas
And all through the land
Most have forgotten
The birth of the lamb

They have X'ed out his name
From buildings and schools
They have X'ed out His theme
From the minds of fools

The story is forgotten
Of a manger's Child
Born of a virgin
Tender and mild

He came to us teaching
Love and forgiveness
His message so simple
His plan so divine

The cost for this plan
He would eventually pay
He paid it in blood
For all of us this day

For six hours He hung
On an Old Rugged Cross
The symbol of suffering
Salvation for the lost

His legacy they would erase
In a land full of haste
The flag we cannot pledge
Because of God's Name they hedge

No prayers will be said
They cry across this land
No prayers to a Savior
No prayers to the Lamb

For God so loved the world
He sent this His only son
But many call it X-mas
Not believing in the One

Christmases come and Christmases go
But the Savior will come only once more we know
He will come in glory, from the heavenly clouds
Those unbelieving will flee in mass crowds

On that day every knee will bow
The X'es will be humbled
Old walls be tumbled
As they face their last hour

Every tongue will confess
Before all the Heavens
That Jesus Christ is Lord
The saved will rest

No X'es will be found, not one will stand
In the sight of a Savior, so Mighty and Grand
The X'es will moan and groan, teeth shall gnash
And Jesus will open the Judgment book at last

It's the night before Christmas
Isn't it grand
my Savior I remember
I remember the Lamb

It's the night before Christmas
His coming is near
How many will remember
That precious Lamb so dear
