Charity
by Jeff Bidiman

The scriptures lay before these eyes,
That see with sudden clarity,
Words that help me realize
The power of pure charity.
It bears, believes, and hopes all things.
Love endures until the end.
It finds no joy in what sin brings,
And seeks for truth to be its friend.
But where is this love I hope to find,
That envies not, nor swells with pride?
The love that's patient. The love that's kind.
The scriptures say it lies inside;
And those wise words reveal to me
That love is what I need to be.
