If I were Blind by Patricia Joan Polhans If I were blind, none would know I see with eyes not here below. Eyes were given through my heart That's how I view and how I start. If I were blind I would not care The color of skin, teeth and hair? If I were blind what would I see? Prejudice! What color is he? If I were blind it would not matter My ears would only hear their chatter. Blindness is often good you know For, then, I see only precious souls. If I were blind and could not see The arms that were embracing me I'd not care if he had worn out clothes. If I were blind I'd not see those. I do not see with eyes so much. I only perceive from a gentle touch. My heart would sense friend or foe For I do not see what others know. If I were blind and could not see How people stare and point at me. If I were blind, thankful I am To be sheltered in protecting hands. |
