Redemption At Twilight
by Graeme Barry

As the radiant day draws near,
And the dazzling dawn bursts forth,
My heart soars without any fear
In the glorious Great White North.

In prayer I fervently plead,
As I begin this bright day,
To lessen my constant need
Along life's arduous way.

The evil trials of life
Press against me with might,
Engulf me in dark strife,
And extinguish the light.

As the day drags on,
Surrounded by cares,
Feeble hope is gone,
Joy is trapped in snares.

The overwhelming cross
I am compelled to bear
Multiplies the sad loss,
And suffocates my prayer.

In bloody battles of the day,
Christ's loving presence is the shield.
It holds scheming Satan at bay,
And triumphantly makes him yield.

During the twilight of life,
There dawns a heavenly peace.
By transcending human strife,
The soul finds divine release.
