Thin Ice by Kathleen Higham We are promised nothing Not even our next breath In a second it could leave us Coming face to face with death. Maybe for a moment or two Life will pass before our eyes Thin ice barely holds us Too late we may realize. The walk was so precarious It didn't have to be that way So on my face I fall again On thin ice, in fear I lay. Waiting, waiting for the sound Will I fall through to hell? Thin ice is no feat to God He had me before I fell. Yet we walk it foolishly Knowing danger lurks there It is life and all its follies Once again, thin ice, not fair. Life is just a journey It's fast, furious, insane You can walk on thin ice But cruel waters wait with pain. I have walked this cold, hard path As the tears freeze on my face Thin ice melts, breaks away My soul warms by His grace. Reaching out, I take His hand When the crackling sound alarms He takes me to solid ground Where eternity melts into His arms. Thin ice, we've all walked it But God has walked it too Then He breathed a Holy breath Melting rivers of hope for you. |
