Storms and Anchors
by Jeff Bidiman

The storm was fierce that day. The ocean swelled
With waves as high as fifteen feet. The sky
Had turned a greenish hue as clouds compelled
The rain upon the heads of Sam and I.
The anchor swung in the waves crashing down.
Filling our boat full of the briny sea.
"Let 'er go," ol' Sam yelled, "or we'll both drown!"
Cutting the rope, I set Sam and I free.
Plenty of times I think back on that day,
And how that anchor brought me back to shore.
When bitter storms threaten to come my way,
I let go of the past; troubled no more
By how or what my life should really be,
And focus more on Gods true love for me.
