Sinful, Deep Sea
by Mark Rome © 2007

Heavenly Father, so great and so grand.
Please reach down and take hold of my hand.

Guide me down the path that You have for me.
Please don't let me drown in that sinful, deep sea.

The moons and the stars, You know them by name.
Since finding You, I know, I'll never be the same.

I just can't believe I've wasted so much time.
Ignoring Your path and following mine.

My path was downhill, easy and wide.
But where was I going, without You for my guide?

Then finally, one day my eyes could now see.
And there You were, all along, beside me.

I felt pretty dumb, not seeing You there.
But from that moment on, I'd follow anywhere.

Please help me be loving, caring, and giving.
So that others will see, through Your love, how I'm living.

Please open my heart, my mouth, and my brain.
So that when I speak Your word, it pours down like rain.

People who hear will know there's a second chance.
They'll jump up, praise God, rejoice, sing and dance!

From that moment on I hope they keep You in their heart.
And remember to thank You for their fresh, new start.

I know I do, many times, each day.
For what You have given, I could never repay.

So Lord, The highest praise, to You, comes from me.
You reached down and saved me, from that sinful, deep sea.
