Pray First
by Randy Smith

I worried, I fretted, I cried
It did not help one little bit.
I cursed, I screamed and got so mad,
I blamed others and threw a fit.

Only thing that I accomplished
was to turn all my friends away.
Then I was scared and alone.
That's when I bowed my head to pray.

Although my troubles were still there,
I felt so much better inside.
I should have turned to God sooner,
and would have, if not for my pride.

I tell you this so you will know
and not go through what I went through.
Give your problems over to God.
You see there's nothing He can't do.

On your knees or in a closet,
standing alone or in a crowd,
God will hear every word you pray,
If you whisper or speak out loud.

But your prayer should not end there.
There's something else that you should do.
Listen for the Lord's still small voice,
for God will also speak to you.
