The Edge of the End by Kathleen Higham Staring at a babbling brook Encroaching the edge of the end Breathing the scent of wild flowers Wondering what's around the bend. Is it the voice of God I hear? My skin warms by a gentle breeze A silent prayer screaming out Then tears accompany my pleas. Remembering the Scripture, the Promise That the Son has set me free A blue sky lazily greets my eyes His Holiness pours down on me. Nature rambles through my heart Brings a melodious song of love Tiny birds chirping merrily To an elder friend, the dove. Ocean waves crash to the shore Sea creatures gracefully swim by My life skirts so near the edge Then the question comes, why? These things will surely pass away "My Grace is sufficient, "He said" My mind paints a perfect picture As the words swirl in my head. His Spirit comes, fills my soul For the truth has set me free Waiting at the edge of the end Till at last the Christ I see. "If the Son has set you free, you are free indeed." |
