The Orphan
by chris jamniczky

I have heard it said that a friend in need,
Is a friend indeed.
If so Lord,
Then be a friend to me.
And it has been said that life begins and ends with a single breath.
If so Lord,
Please breathe life into me.
Lord,
The days seem so long.
Each new sunrise brings thoughts of despair.
I am so alone,
And the future seems so unclear.
Yes I have my moments,
Of heaven's inspired clarity.
And you oh Lord feel so near to me.
But often Lord, doubt fills my bones,
And I am like an orphaned child,
Searching for a home.
Never content where I am.
Nor happy at the prospects of where I may be.
But I will not give up Lord.
For I feel inside what you did for me.
The sacrifice that you gave,
And your rise from the grave.
Lord, teach me to be your friend,
For truly Lord I am in need.
I no longer want to be like the orphan,
Please Lord,
Be a friend to me.
