A Diamond
by Katrina LeShon

From the depths of darkness
Brilliance came
Rare, beautiful
But only in name

Flawless
Though I wasn't right
Uncultured and unprofitable
Yet a finished vessel in His sight

Beyond recognition
Scorned, mocked
As if the workman didn't have a blueprint
Nor counted up the cost

Catch His vision
Do you know His mind?
He chose me from the womb
Predestined me to shine

Spectators anticipate
That the pressure might break me
If they gaze long enough
They will see, it only makes me

Wood, hay, stubble
Not in my tent
I dance in the fire
My enemies despise me for this

I am, one of those
This is that
One of the toughest stones
Ever made to be exact

Once the smoke has cleared
I will still be around
I can't be destroyed
You will witness, as the fire dies down

Behold my beauty
Discover the characteristics of Him
I am valuable, a blessing
To be envied, a precious gem
