His Thirst
by Jeff Bidiman

Here I stand at the place called Golgotha,
With the one to be resurrected first,
Cruelly bound and nailed to the martyr's cross;
In His agony, He softly says "I thirst."

"I thirst," spoke He who calmed the wind and sea,
And the heart within me suddenly burst.
This man who had once fed the multitude,
Unmistakeably called aloud "I thirst!"

Yet He did not thirst for the sour wine
The careless soldiers hastily gave,
But to meet and greet every single soul
His unselfish sacrifice will save!

Now it is I who has taken a thirst
To stand spotless before Him, face to face.
To be greeted by my loving Brother,
And feel the welcome of His warm embrace;

The wellspring of the life giving water.
That beautiful Lamb with unblemished fleece.
The Good Shepherd who watches over us.
My Lord and my Savior, my Prince of Peace!
