Changes (Then and Now)
by Deborah Smith Plemmons

Long ago, we traded, bartered and shook hands.
Now, we sign papers and meet each other's demands.

It was said that, "Love makes the world go 'round".
Now, money seems to, as much as can be found.

We used to play games in the street or on a vacant lot.
Now, we quickly pass by, for fear of being kidnapped or shot.

We used to go to church each Sunday, way back then.
Now, one is scarcely seen going back again.

Most everyone used to believe that God was in control.
Now, it is more important to keep our protocol.

Oh, to dream of being back in those simple days.
Now, we're so busy, we seem caught in a maze.

Changes. Some have been for better; others for worse.
Now is the time to get back on the right course.

Because we've forgotten God, our land seems to be cursed.
God will truly bless us again, if we start putting Him first.
