Hard to Say
by Gabriel Fearing

Strangled by a serpent
Words are restricted
My voice is constricted

Longing to shout
Thoughts want to be voice
Vocalizing just isn't a choice

I have a warrior on my side
I'm a soldier of faith and trial
One who will never witness denial

Like the rays of the sun
His wanton love is all enduring
My growth and life He is securing

Wanting this grip loosened
Not to cry out I feel torn
Hearing his voice over the storm

Calling me, beckoning me
Sprint at first, then we walk
Step by step we learn to talk

The serpent remains
With a much weaker grasp
One day soon there will be no asp

No snake to whisper in my ear
Await the day I hear no hissing
Days today I won't be missing

He spoke love. He speaks volumes
Snakes will not infest me like a weed
Love and time are all I need
