More Than a Thousand Words
by Katrina L Mitchell

Carefully arranged
All the things I would say
Who, what to lay at your altar
Requesting strength for my day

I thought I knew
Exactly what to say to you
But the cares of my heart, disappeared
Insignificant, dissolving with tears

A tear for each mistake
Iniquity and sin
A tear for restoration, to the devotion
I had when I began

A tear for when you stayed
And everyone else chose to leave
Tear drops on my pillow
Overflowing upon my sleeve

Tears for when as, an outcast
I was left to myself
You gathered my tears in a bottle
A book of remembrance sits upon your shelf

…Worth more than a thousand words
