Be Still

Be Still and know that I am God
What marvelous words they are
But for the soul that yearns for Him
He is near and yet so far

So often in our busy lives
We feel the need to pray
For strength for peace for guidance
To help us on our way.

Life can be very lonely
Even though we're not alone
Especially if our partner
Has before us been "called Home"

Remembering the things we did
The ways we showed we cared
That mutual admiration
And encouraging little word.

Sometimes we feel frustrated
And often shed a tear
"If only" are the thoughts we have
"If only they were here"

Oh what a strength and joy it is
To know that God is there
And "If only" we will turn to Him
He will listen to our prayer

But it isn't always easy
When spirits get so low
We tend to think we are on our own
God really doesn't know.

or understand our feelings
Self pity comes on in
The Devil has a field day
We must not let him win

At times like this we are not alone
God is with us all the way
And "If only" we will let Him
He will give us strength each day

To overcome the emptiness
We feel deep down inside
To trust Him more, to lean on Him
Let Jesus be our guide

Be still and know that I am God
Just set the time apart
To spend with Him, in thought and prayer
His peace will fill your heart.
