Walking In My Shoes by Deborah Smith Plemmons Three granddaughters: as different as day and night. They love to play dress up; oh, what a sight! The first put on something simple, casual. She chose the shoes that weren't so unusual. She walked here; she walked there. She walked in my shoes everywhere. The second adorned herself with a frilly dress. She wore my high heels, as you can guess. A look in the mirror to straighten her hair, She walked in my shoes everywhere. The third, oh my, how active and happy; No casual dress, no frills, nothing sappy. She slipped into my house shoes, beware! She walked in my shoes everywhere. Whether casual, dress, or house shoes I portray, They may walk again in my shoes someday. May my life be all that is pleasing to God, So my granddaughters will choose His paths to trod. A fourth granddaughter has come our way. Will she want to walk in my shoes one day? |
