Memories on Canvas by Patricia Joan Polhans I know that Christmas's come rushing in Of past holidays with family and friends. Some are lonesome and sad, some bring you cheer While others are dreams of family so dear. I know this is your very first Christmas 'thout your family's love and tenderness. Mother is ill and may never recover And there's absence of all your sisters and brothers. It seems only yesterday you all were young Laughing, playing together in the sun. But now those precious days are gone forever, Years spent with family and with your mother. This poem is not meant to make you sad But to treasure sweet memories that you've had. None can take those precious treasures from you They're etched in your heart, sketches just for you. They're God's gift to value and reminisce Mem'ries made to soften your loneliness. They're a gift that none can ever replace A canvas of mem'ries with love and grace. None can steal or erase them from your heart There yours to keep, a precious, valued art. So whene'er you're lonely, need fam'ly and friends Just paint on your canvas any one of them. It's your painting that God has given to you A picture of loved of ones who are dear to you. They can't ever be sold or taken away They're God's gift to wash lonely tears away. Memories…only we can make them, only we can share As we paint upon the canvas our memories dear. Only you can sketch a precious, loving memory The art on canvas of valued friends and family! |
