A Quiet Impression by Bryan Miles Like a feather drifts In the stillness of air, You whisper softly, And you are there; There in the midst Though no one would know, Quietly descending, Like falling snow; A leaf cascading, Down from a tree Catches the eye, Of one who can see Aware of his surroundings Not merely by chance, Nature's ballet A graceful dance; Like a star that shimmers A silent glow, Your glory shines forth It's You, I know! In the cluster of the universe You spread Your hand, A far away planet A grain of sand; The silence of space The splendor of Your throne, Earth is your footstool Each mountain of stone; A quiet impression, Is all it takes The hurricanes roar The earth, it quakes; The lightning flashes The thunder roars, The presence of God To one who ignores; The caterpillar's crawl The butterfly's flight, The fall of a tear A child's delight; Just kneeling by your bedside, Or sitting on a hill The presence of God Is calming, and still; Still in the process Of slowing down your run, Just a quiet impression, Like the warmth, from the sun... |
