The Treehouse by Don Sicklesteel © 2006 The tree house was tilting as I climbed up to the door, It was much less stable than it had ever been before. I knew I had to tear it down, it really had to go, But I didn't think the memories would capture me so. The door now hung crooked, and was kind of sloping in, I remembered when it first opened, and we stood there with a grin. The Woodsman Club met there, bringing kids from far and wide, All the kids together, what a lofty place to hide. You could conquer the world, win every battle, dream dreams without end, Be whatever or wherever you wanted to be, in that treehouse with a friend. Our kids are grown now and over the years have grown, The treehouse has been empty as they have families of their own. I wonder in life's pressure, if there are things we just don't see, When the comfort of a treehouse, is someplace we'd rather be. All of us need a treehouse, when things happen in our life, When things get out of control, and we are surrounded by strife. Remember God has a treehouse ready, somewhere in the sky, Trust in Him, and you'll see it, when you say your last good-bye. Until then be patient, He'll be with you all the way, Until you see His treehouse, on that grand and glorious day. |
