The Christian in Old Age
by DAVID LOUGHER

When this frail frame is racked with pain,
My living will not be in vain.

When my cold heart is full of grief,
The word of God brings sweet relief.

When doubts and fears disturb my rest,
I pray to God in my distress.

When recall fails and thoughts confuse,
The Spirit then my mind renews.

When friends and earthly comforts flee,
I know that Christ will comfort me.

When I confront that last dark night,
I know that Christ will be my light.

Then my suffering will be past,
My soul shall rest in God at last.
