In Jesus We Can Be Happy by Sally Dime © 2006 Oh, what a crooked life I had I grew up terribly broken I was so empty and so sad My heart’s worth less than a token I was forbidden to have friends I had no friends I call my own My life was scattered like the sands I was so aloof and alone I didn’t know how to love and care I’d never learned to be happy Behind my smile; life wasn’t fair Was a wreck and so unworthy Then I knew from the Lord of hosts That I am His and His alone He is a Friend that I can boast He loves me and I am His own He taught me to love and to care Be friends to them who need it more He knew me from strands of my hair To number of cells trapped in gore I am no longer as empty As a barrel without water He fills me with love so deeply Into my heart; he doesn’t falter Jesus’ the perfect Friend we have Doesn’t leave us sad and lonely He always fills us with His love In Jesus, we can be happy |
