Praise of a Good Woman
by Stan Arney

A virtuous woman's worth, is greater than anything known to Man
Her husband trusts her, as much as any person can
She will do him good, not evil, all the days of her life
She seeks wool and flax, and works willingly as his wife

Like the merchants' ships of old, she brings her food from afar.
Hauling it by her pack animal, more commonly called a car
She rises early and prepares a meal for her household
She considers a purchase, buys it, without being asked or told

Hard toil strengthens her resolve, as her light seldom goes out at night
She stretches out her hands, to the poor and needy, she's truly upright
She is not afraid of snow, for her household is clothed in scarlet
She makes her clothing of silk and purple, a royal prerequisite

Her husband is well known, as he sits among the elders of the land
She makes fine linen, sells it, and delivers it to the merchant, firsthand
Strength and honor are her clothing, and she shall rejoice in time to come
She speaks with wisdom, and the law of kindness is her tongue's rule of thumb

She looks well after her household, and eats not the bread of idleness
Her children and husband call her blessed, showing her of true worthiness
Her husband says, many women have done virtuously, but you excel them all
Favor is deceitful and beauty is vain, but your ways I cherish above all

A woman that fears the LORD, she shall be praised and respected too
May the fruits, of her good works, bring her praise, at heaven's gate, too
A virtuous woman's worth, is greater than anything known to Man
Her husband trusts her, as was God's original plan.
