By Your Spirit

By your Spirit, speak
Words of life to me
That I may live in You
And your purpose I will see

For Your spirit gives me life
And causes me to be
Alive in You forever
Eternally set free

What profits a man to gain
The world and yet not you
My soul does yearn to prosper
Speak your words so true

Into a heart that hungers
A soul that thirsts for you
Your life restores my spirit
Your life is all that's true

My spirit listens Lord
And hears what you say
A new commandment of love
A new love for today

Without your words of truth
My soul cannot desire
The wonder of salvation
From He whose name is higher

Eternal truths speak forth
And take captive my soul
Dividing life and death
Making me whole

By your Spirit speak
Because only You can bring
Words that encourage and strengthen
In these my soul does sing
