A Mother's Prayer

I am lying quietly
And my body requires much rest
But thoughts of You come through my mind
And I know this is a test

At times I have been anxious
And I may have felt some fear
But Your Word is deep within me
And Your voice is what I hear

Your presence so surrounds me
And Your gift of life will grow
And this child I love so deeply
Is safe with You I know

I see tiny but exquisite hands
And a delicate little nose
And piercing eyes and puckered lips
And precious are his toes

And everything about this child
Is a miracle from You
And everything You ask of me
Dear Lord I pray I'll do

For You have given me this time
To study in thoughtful prayer
And I am thankful for each day
That my child and I will share

For the life You have instilled in me
Is innocent and pure
And nothing that You ask of me
Is more than I can endure

And even when You hear my sigh
Your Holy Hand will touch
And wipe away a Mother's tear
Because You love us both so much
