I pray...

Can't tell you about the things I've been through;
Can't explain the thoughts I've had.
I pray you never go down the wrong roads I went.
I pray you see more than just the bad.
As hard as life is going to be,
especially through your next decade...
never let it darken your heart,
never let your shining light fade.
For, girl, there's something special in you,
baby sis, you must believe.
Things will try to break you down.
Many people in life deceive.
Your intelligence won't always discern.
At times, your love will be blind.
Don't always trust your instincts.
Trust in your family and you will find...
There will forever be those that love you,
and only want what's best...
Those who will never leave you
alone to take your tests.
Trust in God and ask Jesus for help,
and you will not be led astray.
Try really hard to not get mad
when you don't understand God's way.
And remember... not all family is blood related.
