Thanksgiving In Sudan
by Kathleen Higham

Why am I so blessed Lord
When children scream in the night
They are starving and running for safety
Yet they are cherished in Your sight

Why am I so blessed Lord
As I lie down to sleep
These children flee for their lives
But they are Yours to keep

I have watched in total horror
Of this slaughter in Sudan
And I beg You to have mercy
Such evil I can't understand

For You have given me so much
I must not take for granted
On the other end of God's earth
Equality is so slanted

When a mother is torn from her child
And her life is viciously taken
We witness satan's power there
Lord surely they are not forsaken

Why am I so special Lord
I have warmth and food and clothing
And they cry silent tears of fear
For the moment they are loathing

And I am truly thankful Lord
I know it could have been me
Living a life of savagery
For a God I cannot see

But You have shown me the faithful
Inside the walls of safety they cling
Where soldiers of God protect them
In thankfulness to Jesus they sing
