Washout
by mike bullock

I'm going through the kind of phase
That happens now and then
When all my simple Christian walk
Reverts to way back when
My comfort zone has disappeared
I'm slithering on glass
And all my gremlins come alive
To recollect my past.

There is no pride in what I was
And could be once again
I know I've been forgiven
But it's driving me insane
The nagging doubts bombard away
They tell me of my guilt
Destroying my relationships
On which my strength is built.

But just in time, as I go down
A helping hand appears
He pulls me up out of the sand
That's sucking on my fears
He puts me back upon my feet
And dusts me down again
I am restored to holiness
Brand new and free from pain.
