About Christmas by Kathleen Higham Christmas is not about a baby It's about the only begotten Son But we're lost in the gifts and glitter And He's become the forgotten Son Christmas is not about presents Yet we buy till we can't buy any more And the gifts and glitter are soon over What happened to the Christ we adore Christmas is not a fashion show Where worship becomes a show me event We display our apparel and jewelry What about why Jesus was sent Christmas is about our Savior Who was born to die on a cross His mother had no gifts or glitter Her future held unbearable loss Christmas is about our future Not presents heaped beneath the tree For Christ was born to save us Then He died to set us free Yes Christmas is about our Savior And His death was the ultimate giving No glitter no gifts just Jesus It's about the joy of living If you live and walk with Jesus You will always be in His sight For His gift is forever and ever He's the way the truth and the light |
