The Promise
by Kathleen Higham

A time when you were leaving
I cried for you are dear
But you made me a promise
That you would always be near

No matter where God takes you
Or where your house will be
A beautiful Mansion waits for us
A place where you and I will see

That always we will be sisters
An earthly life may separate
But we will live with Him someday
You know we have this date

I thought of the truth in this
Still wishing you would stay
But happy for your promise
And our God will bring the day

When spiritual bodies lifted up
Given a perfect heart and mind
Then as I look around me
Your sweet face I find

For you had never left me
Your passion is without end
My sister I remember well
The promise of my friend
