I?ve Been There by Gertrude Jefferies I had a broken heart also, when I hung upon the cross, And now my heart goes out to you, as you suffer in your loss. I parted with the One I loved, as I hung upon that tree, Separated by the price of sin, He could not look on Me. The empty loneliness of loss is something I have known, So I know your heart and the pain it feels, You can barely carry on. Why don't you let me help you, your painful cross to bear, I know all about it, for you see, child, I was there. I'll walk with you in sunshine, I'll walk with you in rain. And no matter where you go on earth, I'm as close as the mention of My Name. I'll hold you up and give you strength, When it's hard to carry on, And when this life is over, I'll lead you safely home. |
