Journeying Home by Gertrude Jefferies Soon I will take a journey To a land beyond this vale The Captain has weighed anchor And I'm just about to sail. The course has now been charted I'm just waiting for the call. My ticket had been purchased When Jesus paid it all. I'll be traveling with my best Friend So I won't have any fear. We've been planning for this journey All these many, many years. I'll need very little luggage For I won't be coming back. In the place where I am going I won't suffer any lack. When I reach my destination and the journey's finally o're, There'll be many friends to meet me Crowded on that heavenly shore. And my Captain will present me In a ceremony grand, To my host, the King of heaven He'll have nail scars in his hands. There will be a celebration Like I've never known before. Such a glorious grand reunion With all those gone on before. I'm so glad I booked my passage, Way back there at Calvary, When Jesus gave the invitation, Come spend eternity with me. |
