THE EMANCIPATION by Gertrude Jefferies The Emancipation Proclamation made by Jesus long ago As he hung upon the cross of Calvary, Was to slaves who were in bondage, held by powers of sin and death Who needed a deliverer to set them free. For sin held us in its power from the cradle to the grave, From the days of Eve and Adam in the garden. It's because they disobeyed, we were all born into sin, Till Jesus came and offered us his pardon. We're no longer under servitude, for Jesus set us free, And this freedom is for all who would desire it. John 3:16 explains it all, the message is so plain, We'd need never be in chains, ever again. |
