Christmas Past! by Patricia Joan Polhans Just an empty stable where once the Savior had lain For he was no longer there, they had taken him away. No kings came to worship him from the lone, far East. Nor was there gold and frankincense to be laid at his own feet. No North Star there to guide them to where the Savior was For all had forsaken him when he gave his life in love. There were no gentle shepherds tending their flocks that night Just an empty stable crying out in the full moonlight. The angels who once attended him have all, now, gone away. Even the Heavenly Father's head turned aside in dismay. He was not even honored as a child of a noble King. Nor given praise or exaltation within his suffering. |
