The Crossroads
by Leonard Distaso © 2008

How many times have I been here?
Here at this junction...
It looks vaguely familiar...
And I find myself staring,frozen
paralyzed.
Looking down each road.

Desperately wanting to see each roads end.
The ends that I cannot see.
The ends that I know exist somewhere beyond the horizon.
Each holds a different destiny, a different outcome.

Happiness, Sorrow, Joy, Despair, Rebirth, and Destruction
They all lie right here in front of me.
Alas, the choices have not gotten any easier along this journey.
Indeed as one walks further along life's path
The pressure to make the right choice becomes a significant burden.
One that weighs heavily on ones soul.

How many chances will the Light allow me?
How many times will it allow me to
backtrack?
Before I've been walled in...
Before I've reached a dead end...
Or worse ...
Before I tumble finally into the abyss?

Will I once again be gripped by fear?
Will I turn and run down the wrong path?
Have I learned?
Have the silly, sometimes terrible choices I've made taught me anything?

Shine your Light Lord...
Take my hand.
Guide my path this time...
This one last time.....
