Friends by Gertrude Jefferies A friend of Jesus, oh how blest to be! That one of low estate, should share such company. Lord, who am I that You, in all my shame Would look on me, or even know my name? This Son of God in such humility Became the sinners' friend through Calvary. That I, a child of God could ever be, Reveals his love, his glorious mystery. Called out of sin, part of his family Though but a worm, he elevated me To sit with him in places heavenly. A friend of Jesus, oh how blest to be! |
