Unborn
by Kathleen Higham

I feel your thoughts
You are sorry about me
It was not my fault
Someday I want to see.

Peace, is that real?
I am fragile, new
There is fear now
What will you do?

I feel your thoughts
I was meant to grow
Life barely perceptible, but
Do you think no one will know?

Darkness surrounding me
Warmth that's somehow cold
A pain in your heart
My tiny fingers unfold.

I feel your thoughts
Is this the only way?
I am insignificant
But I won't be someday.

I have a soul, I do
In me a deep despair
An ominous sensation
Aren't you supposed to care?

I feel your thoughts
Someone cries a tear
Is it He who created me?
Holds me, holds me near.

You are my home
Whether I go or I stay
I feel you thoughts
Please, Mom, pray...
