The Subtle Rain
by Jeff Bidiman © 2009

There is a subtleness in the soft rain,
Binding my thoughts to contemplative things,
Where my musings walk, but do not complain

About the raindrops dripping on the strings
Of my melancholy, solemn soul.
They walk on wet trails and the water clings

To the trees and the fields, and the grassy knoll
Where I stop and absorb a moist knowing
That the rain comes down to simply extol

Blessings that God is always bestowing
On the unwitting heads of you and I.
His love is like water, always flowing,

Coming out of the sky to testify
Of the eternal love He sent to us.
A love that the world had to crucify,
But still falls from Heaven so virtuous.
