Forever Young by Janet Martin © 2009 Perhaps not, as we count the years Are we as young as we used to be, But as I contemplate life's journey here One thing occurred to me, We're never too old to give a smile, Or walk with a dear friend awhile, Or cherish a hymn as it is sung, In this may we be forever young By this world's standards we'll be old someday If with life we are blessed, Our shoulders will stoop and our hair will be gray And oft we may pause to rest, But we're never too old to whisper a prayer, Never too old to show someone we care, Or let a tender word slip off our tongue, In this may we be forever young I'm thankful we serve a God of grace, And in us He doesn't measure The worth of His child by fairness of face But searches the heart for His treasure, And I'll never be too old to cherish His word Or humbly serve my precious Lord, As we joyfully help each other along, And stay in our hearts, forever young |
