The Bookend by Kathleen Higham Prayer is like a bookend Standing firm on the shelf The bookend props us up When we cannot help our self. I can see you in my mind As words come to me today Then poetry flows from my heart Because this is how I pray. Prayer is like a bookend Especially if there is fear Whisper that simplistic need Feel God's presence near. I have never felt alone When from my heart, I seek Even the smallest desire He hears it when I speak. Prayer is like a bookend So I will surely pray for you I was touched by your request A direct line to God, that's true. You were perfect on that day When on your horse you sat Asked Him for a little help And He came, just like that. Prayer is like a bookend Close your eyes, see His face He was riding by your side When at last you won first place. |
