Desperately I Cry to You

by Kristine Stanton © 2023

"For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
the afflicted who have no one to help."
(Psalm 72:12, NIV)

LORD, desperately I cry to You
in hopes You'll hear my voice.
I'm trapped within a darkened place—
I've made an unwise choice.

I'm sinking low, please reach for me
and pull me from this space.
I know I'm not deserving, LORD—
I've fallen from Your grace.

God, if You lift me from this trap
I will no longer stray.
I promise that I'll follow You—
O' please don't look away.

Redeem me from my ugly sins—
LORD, cleanse my heart and soul.
Come make me new, I ask of You—
I want to be made whole.

"Surely the arm of the Lord
is not too short to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear. . .
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble."
(Isaiah 59:1 & Psalm 46:1, NIV)
