A science-fiction story in which holograms play an important part. Into the story comes an interfering woman, who thinks her daughter cannot live without her. The poor mother has failed to realize her daughter no longer needs her, in some ways the story is more about the mother than the hi-tech wizardry and futuristic . In the story I questioned the idea that, if Man threw enough money at death, it might be defeated through 'science'. "None of them (the wicked) can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:" In other words, no human can pay to God enough money or whatever in order to buy life. Psalm 49 has a lot to say about the wicked desiring to live for ever. Some try to do so through their posterity, or family name, but of course this is futile because while the offspring succeed them, they themselves are dead. They gain nothing by having children. "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Mark 8:36 "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever . . ." Genesis 3:22 This verse has no full stop. God leaves it open-ended, perhaps so we will consider what sinful Mankind might have done if death did not end his chances?

When a bully picks on individuals they are easy prey. One really good way to defend yourself against a trouble-maker is to join forces. In this story a whole class devises a plan to discredit a tale-teller. "You shall not go up and down as a talebearer among your people." Leviticus 19:16 "A talebearer reveals secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter." Proverbs 11:13 "The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly." Proverbs 18:8 and 26:22 "He that goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets." Proverbs 20:19 "Where no wood is, there the fire goes out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceases." Proverbs 26:20

This story is about some kids who explore an old corridor which leads to an old hospital, but they find another tunnel which leads to an amazing discovery. Part whimsical, part theological, this story asks the question: "Where were we before we were conceived?" There is no answer to this question in the Bible, but we may make some educated guesses. Logically, before we were conceived, God had already designed us, and foreseen our lives , however long or short. No person has ever been conceived without God knowing all about them, even to the atoms which comprise the fertilized ovum. Logically therefore, we were in God's infinite Mind before we were created. It is usually assumed that we have no memory of this time, but perhaps there is some residual glory still residing in our being, which fades as we develop? I do not know, but when I look into the face of a baby I see innocence, infinity, glory, beauty, unconditional love and many other the qualities I associate with God. "How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! how great is the sum of them!" (The whole Psalm) Psalms 139:17 One of the great mysteries for finite Man is to cope with the idea that God knows the end from the beginning, but even more than that, God is always in the past, the present and the future, all at the same time! There is no past or future for Him, but how can we understand this when we are always locked in the present? God's thoughts are eternal, so there is no 'time' when God does not know all His thoughts! The mysterious nature of God obscures our path from here, but it is good to know that our God, the true God, is mightier than our imagination, otherwise we might suspect we manufactured Him ourselves. "And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb." Luke 2:21 "And the Lord said to her,

Aliens have taken over the world, but they are having trouble understanding the language of advertising. This humorous story has a laugh at the misleading, deceitful, exaggerated, and false statements often found in the advertising world. I could have included many more statements, such as the unqualified words "quality, better, faster" and "more power", which are utterly meaningless without something to compare with. Much advertising is, at base, nothing but lies, but in our sophisticated world, we have learned how to ignore the steady bombardment of untruths and make our own assessment of products regardless of bragging salespeople and their overblown claims. I recall many years ago reading a disclaimer in a Christian magazine. The seller of a certain product apologized for making misleading claims about his product, and confessed that he had deliberately copied the world in his advertising format. And the king said to him (the prophet), How many times shall I adjure you that you say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the Lord?" 2 Chronicles 18:15 (God will accept) He that walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart." Psalms 15:2 "Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts:" Psalms 51:6 "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent (change His mind): has he said, and shall he not do it? or has he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Numbers 23:19

A humorous story with serious undertones. Every political Party has individuals who think they can change the small portion of world they live in, and each is doomed to compromise, conflict and defeat, because there are many other individuals who have different ideas about how the world should be. Elections in a democracy are a blessing because they prevent any single bunch of people from shaping society in any one direction for too long. Dictatorships are a curse. Religious dictatorships are a curse too. Good government is a balancing act between law and freedom, between government control and people control. No nation has yet got the whole thing right - yet, but when Jesus comes His benevolent dictatorship will show us the way. See the whole of Psalm 72 for a prophetic picture of the coming reign of Jesus over planet Earth. For example: 1. He shall judge your people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment. 2. The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. 3. He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. 4. They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations. 5. He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth. 6. In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endures. 7. He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth. "And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth (out) of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem." Micah 4:2

This is a poor little rich kid story, an all-too-often situation in the affluent Western world. Too many children are given material things when what they want above all else is 'quality time' with their parents. In fact, in a recent survey, when children were offered the choice between a flash toy, (the ultimate toy of their dreams), and time with Mum or Dad, by far the majority chose the latter. There is no substitute for interpersonal relations with someone who loves you. In this fantasy story a very wealthy father realizes where he has gone wrong, and sets things right. In another realm, our Heavenly Father longs for fellowship with His children, but it is His children who are constantly distracted, while He pursues them with overtures of love. (I wrote a novel based on this theme, 'Bit Scream' published by Scholastic) "And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." Luke 1:17 "I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love." Hosea 11:4 (This is the Father speaking, letting us know His heart towards His erring children of Israel) "And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him." Luke 15:20

A humorous story about two men and a rabbit, but the underlying theme is about arrogance, and pride and unforgiveness. The two main characters are caught up in the logical process which comes from following "the flesh" and the only casualty is an innocent rabbit, a symbol of those who become victims when they are involved (involuntarily) in other people's violence. "Samaria shall become desolate; for she has rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up." Hosea 13:16 "Thus says the Lord; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:" Amos 1:13 "He sits in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places does he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily (secretly) set against the poor." Psalms 10:8 "And (they) shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood." Psalms 106:38
