That's right, compared to Jesus, all our goodness stinks. We could never be good enough to compare to someone being abused and condemned to death. What acts of charity could we do? What amounts of money could we give to compare to someone's death? We have nothing. It's like a child offering his dollar to pay for the house he burnt down. It's good that we can rely on Jesus' death to take care of our "problem" for us, since we could never take care of it ourselves.
