Wording of this Handout:

When you hear someone say "bacteria" do you think of nasty horrible germs?

The truth is not all "germs" are nasty and horrible. Many of them are useful and helpful.

For example:
All animals that eat grass, such as cows, horses, goats and sheep, need bacteria. When these animals eat grass or corn, hay or leaves, the food goes to their stomach where a special kind of bacteria lives.

When the food arrives, the bacteria enjoy a good meal, but as they are busy eating, they turn the grass and other stuff into sugars. The animal then uses the sugar for itself.

This means that all the grass-eating animals in the world would not be able to live without those bacteria, and the bacteria would not be able to live without the grass-eaters.

When God created this world, He made animals and bacteria so they would work together.
