Wording of this Handout:

To understand how hot the sun is at its centre, imagine this: you go to the sun and collect a pinhead of the sun (that's about this much . ) Now you come back to earth with this pinhead and put it somewhere. such as the road. or on a roof. That little dot of sun is so hot it would set fire to everything within 60 miles (110 km) of you!

What does the sun do? It makes the wind blow, it makes the sea-currents flow, it makes the seasons come and go, it makes the tide come up the beach and then pulls it back again, it freezes the water for the north and south poles and makes it snow on the mountains.

All life on earth depends on the sun.
Plants use sunlight to make food. Animals eat plants. Other things eat the animals. In the soil the sun helps to keep the insects and microbes alive. The sun also helps to kill germs - which is why its good to hang your washing on the line in the sun.

Farmers are lucky they never get a bill from God for all the free heat the sun gives them for their crops! Just one small paddock. if it was heated by electricity, would cost more than $100,000 every year!

The sun shows us how wonderful Jesus Is. The Bible says that God, through Jesus, created the universe, and that He keeps it all going by His power. We depend on Jesus for everything, including our lives. Without Jesus we would die. Jesus is just like the sun to us all!

One more amazing thing about the sun is the speed at which It spins.
The sun turns slowly compared to the planets, Some scientists think the sun formed without any help from God, They say that the sun and the planets all formed together. like a huge, flat wheel. but if that was true, the sun should be spinning much faster, and the planets should be going round it much slower. The fact is, the planets go round the sun very quickly, and the sun spins slowly - this is the very opposite to what the scientists say should be happening.

God is not bothered by what scientists who don't believe in Him say!
