Wording of this Handout:

What some people say: "The piranha is a terrible fish. It bites and attacks anything alive in the water. Some rivers are so infested with them that it is impossible to swim in them!"

The truth: The piranha is not very dangerous at all. It eats fruit, plants and insects, and very rarely ever bothers humans. Only when it is starving will it nip a human . . . but most piranha are just plain bored by them.

Where did the devil come from?
The Bible says that God created many good, obedient angels, but no long after they were created, one of these angels became proud. His name at this time was Lucifer, which means 'shining one'. He had a bad influence on some other angels, and soon there were quite a few angels who all wanted things which God was not pleased about.

As a punishment, the proud angel was sent away from heaven, along with his followers, and they came to live here, on this planet.

God knew the bad angels would be a real nuisance on earth, so He sent lots and lots of good angels to look after things, and stop the bad angels from doing too much.

The bad angel got a new name - Satan, or the devil - and he's been busy trying to ruin things ever since he arrived. 'Devil' means 'destroyer' (and other things)

Usually angels are invisible, so we almost never see any of them, but they are real, just like you and I are real.

If you are a Christian, the Bible says that good angels will help you from time to time. They also do a lot of good things for people even those who don't believe in God.

God is stronger than any angel, and you are always safe when you are His.
