Wording of this Handout:
FASHIONS FROM 2000 YEARS AGO
Around the time of Jesus some men used to grow their hair quite long, and then sprinkle gold dust in their hair to make it twinkle and shine! Girls do the same thing today with twinkle gel - but not real gold dust
To treat an infection, figs were mashed up and put in a bag with holes in it. this was called a poultice, and it is a method still used today sometimes.
And in Egypt, more than 2000 years ago, some of the queens used to wear false beards, which they attached to their face with a small leather strap around the chin!
In the time of Jesus, it you were a man with white hair, you could expect people to bow to you.
Fashions come and go. What is all the rage today, is old fashioned tomorrow. The Bibles says: "Is there any thing where it may be said, see, this is new? It has been already of old time, which was before us."
