Wording of this Handout:
Thanks for my broken tooth!
I remember a true story which came from a Christian youth camp. At the camp there were both Christians and non-Christians, and on of those unbelievers, a girl, was doing some deep thinking.
She had heard the gospel and she understood a bit about what being a Christian meant, but she didn't know if it had and relevance to life today, it seemed like the main thing about being a Christian was some hope which was always somewhere away in the future.....until the kids in the camp went boating.
One of the Christians was about to get into a boat when she slipped and hit her face on the landing boards. She broke a tooth and cried out in pain, then she said "Praise the Lord!" It was only a tooth!
The unbelieving girl had been expecting to hear a lot of angry swear words, but when she heard the Christian say "Praise the Lord!" she realized that Jesus can make a difference to people's lives right here and now.
And that accidental slip beside the boat was the thing that convinced her that she should become a Christian.
This is what Jesus meant when He said Christians would be like lights, shining out into a dark world. Some people are attracted to that light - like the unbelieving girl was. How is your witness going?
Look Mum! Something from the tooth ferry!
The Bible says "Giving thanks always fro all things to God." Ephesians 5:20 (New King James Version)
