Wording of this Handout:

The end of the flood.

Water, as you probably know, cannot be compressed. Its not like are, which you can squash or compress into a cylinder and then squirt out again. Water is really quite hard - as you have probably noticed if you do a "belly-flop" into the swimming pool. Also, this is why people are killed when they jump into water from a great height. The water can't move out of the way fast enough, so its like hitting concrete.

So when the great flood was at its height, God had a lot of water to move so the land could appear.

The first thing God used was a tilt in the land. Water (in large mass)always runs downhill, helped by gravity. The continents which we know of today were pushed up, and the sea floor sank down, (Ps. 104:7-9) creating a huge body of flowing water. If you look at a map, you will see that all the continents slope generally from west to east, and all the great drainage systems - rivers like the Mississippi and Amazon, flow from west to east.

It was during the draining time that such things as the Canterbury plains were laid down, and perhaps the Grand canyon was caved. Most of the world geology is easily explainable in terms of the great flood.

Hey - surf's up!

The Bible says "And the waters receded continually from the earth, "genesis 8:3 (New King James Version)
